Designed by Sebastian Wrong for Established & Sons, the Lucio features a high-back, generous proportions, and a swivel table that was inspired by the paintings of Argentine-Italian artist Lucio Fontana.
The design’s flowing forms are cleverly supported by a laminated ribbed construction that shapes to the user for extra comfort. It’s a stylish solution for mornings of coffee and calls.
The designer points out to two important factors: weight and comfort.
The generously sized Lucio high-back chair and Lucio lounge chair offer reclined and relaxed seating positions, with flowing forms cleverly supported by sprung webbing that shapes to the user for extra comfort.
The foam-and-fabric body of each chair is connected to its tubular steel frame with a textile or leather cover.
These slashes in the fabric allow the upholstery to hug the frame tightly, swaddling the structure of the angular seat as well as providing an unexpected visual contrast.
At 88cm tall and 90cm deep, the chair is low-slung and generously sized to enable a truly relaxed sitting position, cleverly supported by sprung webbing that shapes to the body for extra comfort.
“This chair took four years to develop,” said Wrong. “We’re passionate about making products that fulfill a need and that offer a remarkable solution.”
“The brief I set myself was to create a steel-framed chair out of tubular sections, which was very efficiently designed and very light. It utilizes new technology to support your body.”
“It has a distinct character, it’s comfortable, it’s lightweight and, if you’re on a call, it offers you somewhere to put your laptop without having to worry about your background or whether you’re going to end up with a sore neck.”
“Lucio is part of a move away from compartmentalizing furniture as being for the home or the office,” said Wrong. “It can withstand the demands of a real, functional home and be equally suited to a break-out space or a coworking environment,” he concludes.
