Bangkok, Thailand
Led by Pitupong Chaowakul, Supermachine Studio teamed up with enthusiastic landscape designers Urbanis to come up with a new vision for The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Center (SAC)—a valuable institution hidden in an outskirt plot of Bangkok, not very easy to access.

The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre (SAC) is an academic institution under the Ministry of Culture in Taling Chan District, Bangkok, Thailand, established in 1992, with the aim of the systematic gathering, processing, and maintenance of anthropological data scattered throughout the country.
The Center has the task to implement activities in academic studies and research in anthropology, and to provide technical services by serving as the agency of learning, source of information, and networking for information on anthropology in Thailand and Southeast Asia.

The Center aims at creating innovative knowledge from research and academic staff highly knowledgeable in anthropology and acting as a core organization for the network of academic knowledge on anthropology nationally and internationally.
The renovation of the Center’s 1990s, an aging building created a new façade and central garden including new interior spaces.

Supermachine’s new design also combines a new exhibition space, library, auditorium, and office devoted to local and international anthropological content.
This first phase of the renovation consists of improving human and automotive accessibilities, the cafe building the main building façade, and a lobby while adding a new central garden.
