Oxford, United Kingdom
Located on land previously used as a railway siding and business park in the Oxford West End, Student Castle Oxford by fjmstudio and Martin Design Associates Ltd. for Student Castle is a contemporary response to the rich characters and histories of Oxford.

Student Castle Oxford has recently been awarded a 2022 International Architecture Awards Honorable Mention by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Oxford is experiencing a period of considerable change and transformation.
Its historic city center is juxtaposed with under-used urban areas that belie the unique character of the city.
Opened in 2020, Student Castle is the first landmark project to be completed as part of the wider regeneration of Oxpens, in the Oxford West End.

fjmtstudio proposed a sensitive mixed-use solution for a challenging and constrained site that sets an important benchmark for development in the wider urban area.
The building provides 515 rooms of high-quality student accommodation arranged in three distinct but connected urban block.
It draws inspiration from the rich characters and histories of Oxford and Oxpens.
The result is an exemplary building, for a significant and sensitive site, that creates a finely-grained urban response.
