Raffaella Mangiarotti and Matteo Bazzicalupo of deepdesign in collaboration with Smeg designed a new espresso machine with an integrated coffee grinder that stays true to the design philosophy of the brand.

The new EGF03 Espresso Machine With Integrated Coffee Grinder has been awarded a 2023 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
For its design, Raffaella Mangiarotti and Matteo Bazzicalupo took into consideration that the coffee ritual requires the right amount of time: every single step is essential to obtain a drink with an enveloping aroma and intense flavor, starting from the choice of beans right through to extraction.

For an even grind that preserves all the aromas, the integrated coffee grinder is equipped with stainless steel conical grinders that allow you to set the grind to a super-fine level.
The dual Thermoblock heating system, one dedicated to the coffee circuit and one to the milk circuit, ensures that the steam function is always ready after the coffee has been brewed, avoiding waiting times for milk frothing.

Thanks to the 58 mm diameter filter holder and the steam wand, both made of stainless steel, it is possible to prepare coffee and milk-based preparations like a real barista, while the pressure gauge allows you to check that the extraction is optimal according to the espresso parameters.
The espresso machine lends itself to the possibility of customizing drinks to suit every taste: the presence of the control panel with dual menus makes it easy to manage preparation.
The machine is available in six colors: red, white, black, and the unmistakable pastel colors cream, green, and light blue, perfectly matched with the rest of the Smeg small and major domestic appliances.
