Pleiades is a celestial lighting installation that transforms space into a quiet conversation between light, sound, and myth. Inspired by the Pleiades star cluster in the constellation of Taurus—often called the Seven Sisters—it draws on stories of dancing celestial beings and their role as luminous guides between the universe and humankind.
Suspended, amorphous glass forms appear to float in the air, inviting visitors to wander among them and explore with all their senses. Each glass body has its own distinct colour, coming to life under an external 75W halogen spotlight that bends and scatters light across the room. As the glass deflects the beams, vivid color gradients and shifting reflections glide over walls, surfaces, and the moving objects themselves, creating an ever-changing, immersive atmosphere.

The experience is not purely visual. The shell-like shapes of the glass act as resonant chambers, producing subtle sounds and frequencies that change as you move around them. Stepping closer, listeners can perceive different tonalities within each form, as if each “sister” in this stellar family speaks in her own voice. In this way, the installation becomes a kind of portal, echoing the cosmological idea of the Pleiades as beings of light that transmit information and connection from the wider universe.
Pleiades thus bridges outer space and inner perception, the greater cosmos and intimate human experience. It gently encourages experimentation, contemplation, and play—inviting visitors to look, listen, and feel their way into a deeper relationship with light. The project is supported by Dr. Hauschka, Création Baumann, and Kolonne Null, with photography by Martin Hass.

ELOA, the creators of the Pleiades installation, emerged from a year-long commission to craft adaptable lighting for a multifunctional loft space—defining zones for cooking, dining, and working while shifting atmospheres with time and mood. This sparked the evolution into a modular system blending minimalist design with traditional glassblowing.
Their fragile, iridescent objects—freely formed and timeless—float like star constellations, evoking weightlessness in any room. Amorphous shapes play with color and light from every angle, bridging art and design as unique pieces: from table and floor lamps to ceiling fixtures, vases, and bowls. ELOA transforms spaces into poetic realms of perception.
