Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Designed by Amsterdam-based Boris Lancelot, Rom and Lupa chairs are a set of new revolutionary primary school chairs that can actually improve all children’s physical and mental health.

“Chairs shape our daily movement patterns, limiting our bodies to very few sitting postures and leading to us missing out on gentle muscular diversity,” says Studio Lentala founder Boris Lancelot.
“The result is a negative cycle where inactivity leads to poor physical fitness, poor health, and low self-esteem. For these reasons, some have called sitting the new smoking,” he continues.
After thorough research, Studio Lentala has come up with these designs that provide active sitting solutions and prove the negative impact passive sitting has on the physical and mental health of children.
Studio Lentala’s seating designs offer a fresh take on varied & healthy sitting.
The Rom chair is a simple playful seat inspiring children to find their own personal sitting pace.

Designed with a large sitting surface, like a surfboard, it allows children to take a wider range of sitting postures.
Every postural change activates different muscle groups, which helps support the child’s physical health.
As a result, the Rom enables better focus, longer endurance, and being playful.
The Lupa seat allows a variety of sitting postures from kneeling and squatting, to cross-legged positions.

While focused on a task children can reposition their bodies freely.
Every postural change activates different muscle groups, which supports the child’s physical health.
As a result, Lupa enables good focus, longer endurance, and playfulness.
