Bovezzo (BS), Italy
Designed by German designer Konstantin Grcic for FLOS, Noctambule comes alive with the flip of a switch.
Made up of hand-blown glass cylinders, the transparent fixture is almost invisible to behold when unlit.
Named after the French word for ‘night owl,’ Noctambule appears invisible during the day, and it magically illuminates at nighttime thanks to LED technology that is carefully hidden within the connecting rings.
Mostly invisible during the day, but coming to glamorous activity at night-time. The analogy of the night owl or reveler is fitting.
The new collection of lamps is made of blown glass modules, which are see-through and therefore almost inexistent at day-time.
But, when you switch them on in the dark, they transform into gorgeous, illuminated lamps.
The cylindrical glass modules set the basic grammar of the collection. The single module is a lantern.
Several modules stacked on top of each other create a light column, or a suspended chandelier inside a stairwell. Extra elements such as a glass dome or a cone-shaped head provide added performance for floor standing up-lighters and pendants.
The carefully calibrated LED technology, which powers the lamps, is discretely integrated into the junctions between the glass modules. Almost absent, but ready to be activated at any (night-)time.
The fixture is configurable as a hanging or standing lamp, Noctambule features additional components that allow for numerous options.
The cylindrical body is available at a low and high height, and a dome- or cone-shaped head can be selected if a more direct light source is desired.
Dimming capabilities can be configured in the power supply unit within the ceiling rose, or as a pedal-operated panel on the power cord.
Furthermore, a dome- or cone-shaped head can be selected if a more direct light source is desired.
