Kathy Delaney, Chief Creative Officer, and her team at Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness have designed the Prescription Paper Pill Bottle for Tikkum Olam Makers: TOM as an alternative to the plastic pill container that has no plastic, no artificial glue, and no toxic dye.
The 100% sustainable packaging design recently won a 2021 Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Every year, billions of plastic pill bottles end up in landfills and ocean dumps.
Because small bottles can’t be recycled, they become toxic waste that devastates our natural ecosystem.
The 100% compostable bottle is also designed to meet FDA requirements for safety and protection.
Working in collaboration with Tikkun Olam Makers (TOM), a global movement of makers and innovators based in Israel, Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness aims to initially distribute the Prescription Paper Pill Bottle to smaller, local pharmacies for trial, then expand access and distribution to larger pharmacy chains over time.
The goal is to encourage greater interest in sustainable, eco-friendly packaging and create demand for a greener approach to medicine.
Its open-sourced design is available to any pharmacy.
Once emptied, it can be composted to enrich soil giving back to the earth.
With its ingenious design and open-source availability, the Prescription Paper Pill Bottle has garnered plenty of attention for innovation, creativity, and sustainability.
And yes, it’s child-proof!
Now medicine that’s good for our health comes in packaging that’s good for the planet.
