Minam Kim and Seungtack Hong and Hyundai Design Center and Junghyun Cho and Jinyoung Kim of Citrus Design create the Genesis Wireless EV Charging System drastically that reduces the users’ inconvenience of operation during the charging process and rather contributes as a positive factor to enhancing the user experience about electric vehicles beyond a simple charging event.

The project has been awarded a 2021 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
It consists of Power Supply (PCS) to transfer electric power, control charging, and indicate the charging state, and Base Pad embedded electric cord which produces a magnetic field to supply electric power.
Unlike the standardized structure and shape of other products with a purpose of technology implementation and test, the design of the Genesis Wireless EV Charging System is beyond a simple technology implementation and developed focusing on the simplicity of manufacturing, advancement of brand image, and enhancement of the value of the users’ emotional experience.
First, it applies the elements of brand identity such as the plaid pattern, two-line module, ambient lighting, and paint color which deliver an integrated visual image of the brand.

Second, the PCS and Base Pad consisting wireless charging system minimized the decorative elements of its design. By reducing the use of a plastic mold, and using a metal plate cutting method, which uses steel as the main material, the manufacturing process is simplified and thus its eco-friendliness is enhanced.
Third, the overall height of PCS and the location of the indicator were designed to be optimized for a user to watch the charging process on the drivers’ seat in parking mode.
Fourth, the round indicator on the upper right of PCS applies various colors and animation to display the state of the charger and charging process intuitively and emotionally.
Fifth, the outlets on both sides of PCS are designed for the heat generated inside to escape easily by increasing the air circulation rate. It plays a role to enhance the completeness of function and design while keeping its aesthetic quality.
Furthermore, the Genesis Wireless EV Charging System is linked to its brand’s app to provide a seamless charging experience for users.
The app provides advance reservation service for charging stations and pick-up and charging service reservations, including the features to search charging stations based on the available mileage and operating hours. It also provides real-time information such as charging state, remaining hours, mileage available, and the user’s charging credit status.
