The Swiss studio of Herzog & de Meuron has re-released Corker this time for ClassicCon—a universal piece of furniture that fits perfectly into any environment, as an additional seat or as a side table.
In Corker, Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron explore the infinite potentialities of sustainable cork.
With the new Corker series, ClassiCon emphasizes a product made of recyclable natural material—cork—which comes from local, sustainable forestry; it is also 100% recyclable.
Warm, anchored, stable and flexible in its uses, Corker features a champagne bottle cork silhouette, an element that inspired its design.
Corker was born on the occasion of the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2012, in London—a joint project led by the architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron and the Chinese artist, designer, and architect Ai Weiwei. The cork design object was part of the overall concept.
Herzog & de Meuron’s stool/table is carved from two blocks of waste insulation cork. Corker’s function and design are timeless, and the quality of its materials is forward-looking.
Corker is available at ClassicCon in three sizes.
