Mallorca, Spain
Located on the east coast of Mallorca is Casa Cal by BONBA Studio is a single-family home located in a prime spot by the sea, facing east/west adapted to the geometry of the site and ensuring that its design sticks to a single floor.
The design features a series of L-shaped load-bearing walls, which support the roof structure.

They are arranged in such a way that the corners are left free so that different views of the idyllic surroundings can be enjoyed from each of the rooms.
For its sustainable design and layout, Casa Cal has recently been awarded a 2024 Future House Award by Global Design News and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
The roof garden enhances thermal control inside the house, while helping the building to blend into the natural environment.
This element, together with the geometry of the building and its position, make it a home that is highly energy efficient.

The windows and openings are protected to the south and west by large overhangs, while solar control is filtered using sliding blinds that adapt to each circumstance while providing privacy to the user.
The design of this house is coupled with sustainable energy capture and generation systems through the installation of photovoltaic panels, as well as a heat and rainwater recovery system.
The existing Mediterranean-type vegetation on the plot, together with the plants in the different patios created by the geometry of the house, mean that the surroundings can be enjoyed in complete privacy.
Casa Cal seeks to unite landscape and architecture while creating a sustainable building that is centred on the well-being of its users.
