Global Design News and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design proudly announce the winners of the Future House Awards 2026, celebrating the world’s most innovative new residential architecture, landscape design, and interiors.
Now in its fourth year, Future House Awards is the only museum-run, non-commercial program dedicated exclusively to honoring groundbreaking residential design — “from a shed to a penthouse.” The program spans twelve categories, including Private Homes, Residential Towers, Sustainable Houses, Social Housing & Community Living, and Historic Preservation, welcoming both built and unbuilt projects. With submissions spanning five continents, Future House Awards continues to shape the global conversation on what defines exceptional residential design today — and where it’s headed next.

This year’s jury brought together an internationally distinguished panel: Melike Altınışık (MAA – Melike Altınışık Architects), Erla Dögg Ingjaldsdóttir (Minarc), Jenchieh Hung (HAS Design and Research), Nuru Karim (NUDES Architecture), Kulthida Songkittipakdee (HAS Design and Research), and Tryggvi Thorsteinsson (Minarc). Together, they evaluated hundreds of submissions for innovation, craft, materiality, and sustainability.
