Located in southern China’s warm climate, Shenzhen provides a striking context for this project.
Through the “Shenzhen Qianhai • Huafa Ice and Snow World” — set to be the world’s largest indoor ski resort — the exhibition center aims to draw attention to disappearing glaciers. It not only showcases icy landscapes but also strengthens environmental consciousness.
Snow Park by Kris Lin International Design, won an 2026 International Architecture Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
Using “ice and snow + light and shadow + art” as its design language, the project creates a landmark where technology and culture coexist. It seamlessly merges exhibition functions with commercial spaces, ensuring lasting economic and operational value.
Inspired by a Chinese explorer’s glacier expedition documentary, the project creates six immersive scenes—1.Snow Cliff, 2.Blue Ice Cave, 3.Ice Sky Light, 4.Ice Spire, 5.igloo , and 6.Snowflake—offering a captivating “Ice and Snow Adventure” experience.
It combines the spirit of natural exploration with modern design, creating a landmark that blends cultural depth with commercial value.
GRG: Widely used in the creation of flowing walls and ribbon-style light fixtures, GRG offers excellent moldability, lightweight, and recyclability.
It not only precisely restores the curves of the design but also minimizes construction waste and meets green building standards.
Ice Jade Stone: Used in the tunnel area, its translucent texture, combined with natural light and shadow effects, perfectly showcases the visual essence of ice and snow.
Ice jade stone is both durable and environmentally friendly, adding artistic and lasting vitality to the space.
Holographic Projection and Immersive Technology: By utilizing holographic projections, LED screens, and dynamic lighting effects, a multi-dimensional immersive experience is created, making visitors feel as though they are stepping into an ice and snow world, enhancing the interactivity and technological feel of the space.
This project is not merely an exhibition space, but a public education platform connecting visitors with glacial issues.
Its core strength lies in seamlessly linking the “glacier expedition” experience with awareness of “global warming” through a streamlined narrative flow and immersive multi-sensory interactions.
Visitors encounter icy wonders in the “Snow Cliff” and “Blue Ice Cave,” then confront their fragility and disappearance through the “Ice Stalactites” and “Icy Light” zones.
This complete journey—from experience to resonance, from awareness to reflection—naturally yet profoundly enhances public consciousness of glacier conservation.
Raising Awareness of “Global Warming” Using “ice, light, and art” as its core design language, the project creates an immersive winter landscape in a warm southern Chinese city.
It not only offers a unique cultural experience but also aims to draw public attention to global warming and glacier preservation.
Six thematic spaces turn exploration into embodied environmental education.
Eco-friendly materials like lightweight GRG and recyclable acrylic, combined with energy-efficient LED and holographic technology, ensure low-carbon operation without compromising visual impact.
