Beijing, China
Aiming to establish a rich industrial and mining-themed tourism destination, Feng Lei Jingmei Group has appointed AT.AART to create a flagship tourist destination with ultimate resort experiences that will eventually lead to the rebirth of the area.
Combining the unique natural conditions of Wangping coal mine area with industrial heritage resources, the project creates the IP of coal mine remains as carriers and incorporates hotel program to offer distinctive flagship experiences.
Regarding the mining heritage, the core of the mine area, which carries significant historical memories and architectural characteristics, will be transformed into a regenerated hotel’s core public area through reinforcement and partial reconstruction.
By incorporating elements such as mine tunnels, coal, coal hoppers, and coal gangue, the coal mine culture is integrated into the design of the themed spaces from architectural, landscape, and interior dimensions.
The visual and sensory stimulation enhances the resort experience by evoking emotions through immersive mining theme scenes.
For the room layout, all hotel rooms are positioned on single side to avoid unfavorable views and sightlines between rooms.
Private and public zones are well separated. By occupying the higher parts of the site and utilizing the topography and slopes.
The hotel layout descends along terraces, ensuring that all rooms enjoy optimal natural and mining heritage landscape views.
Simultaneously, a three-dimensional “Vitality Loop” circulation route connects various functional zones and outdoor spaces within the central public area, serving as both a convenient transport corridor and a mining culture-themed exhibition gallery, thereby delivering a unique cultural experience.
