Barcelona, Spain
Antares tower is the latest development and the first ever high-rise building to be designed by Odile Decq, with ample and luxurious living spaces and resort-style amenities whose bold design is reshaping Barcelona’s skyline.

Located on the east side of Barcelona and close to the sea, Antares tower is a rehabilitation project as well as a change of function for an existing building.
Through elevation and façade treatment, the building is transformed into a high-end residential tower with large balconies and outdoor spaces.
Antares Tower was awarded a 2022 International Architecture Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

The top elevation includes a relaxation area and a swimming pool while at the ground level of the tower a spa is laid out, a restaurant, and a garden with accompanying services.
This state-of-the-art development is home to 88 apartments ranging from studios to four-bedroom units, to two-story penthouses.
“This is my first residential project, as well as my first project in Spain, so it was important that I design every facet of Antares. To me, I call it “Global Design, the interior finishes are in total concert with the spirit of the building,” states Odile Decq.

“I designed everything from the architecture to the kitchen islands to the lacquered doors and brass door handles,” she continues.
Decq draws inspiration from Barcelona’s dynamic spirit and cultural identity imbuing the tower with a sense of dynamism, most notably by wrapping the structure with undulating balconies.

Built as an extension of the existing floor plates, the wavy balconies distort the building’s volume giving the impression of movement as well as alluding to the organic forms of Joan Miró and Antonio Gaudi.
Extended upwards by 10 floors, the tower also stands out for the red color of the upper floors.

The choice of red color is strategically chosen by the architect: “red is the color of Barcelona. It’s passion. It’s life. I wanted the red on the top of the building to be like a flag, signaling the building’s presence and identity.”
