Madrid, Spain
Madrid-based Clara Murado and Juan Elvira have designed Casa Galgo, a minimal house located in a very narrow and elongated plot in Madrid’s residential area.

Nevertheless, the architects have managed to accommodate within the structure on this plot an outdoor area, a pool, and a garden.

The design of the house is characterized by the clean lines, white volumes, and its minimalist aesthetic as a whole.

The residence consists of four levels; the basement and garage area, the living room and the kitchen area, the bedroom floor, and a terrace.

The main bedroom occupies the entire first floor and includes a walk-in closet and a master bathroom that is connected to the main terrace at the front of the building.

Populated by bamboo thickets, the terrace is enclosed by walls with some openings to retain privacy and enjoy views out.

A spiral, floating stair connects the second floor to a solarium where occupants can enjoy views of the neighborhood.

There is an excavated patio occupying the entire front of the plot that floods the basement with daylight.

The garden and pool, which run longitudinally along the edge of the plot, are conceived as an extension of the ground floor.

Large windows incorporating perforated, sliding metal shutters articulate the ground-floor living room and kitchen.
