Vienna, Austria
Designed by Dieter Henke and Marta Schreieck and commissioned by ARE Austrian Real Estate and SORAVIA Equity, the Triiiple is a residential complex that has a sculptural formulation that creates differentiated exterior and interior spaces on all sides as well as a distinct and unique presence in the city of Vienna.

The Triiiple has been awarded a 2023 International Architecture Award from The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The 3 individual towers – each over 100 meters high – are connected by a 2-story base structure that contains a kindergarten, stores, restaurants, offices, and a fitness center.
The staggered levels create projections and recesses that are partly related to the surrounding buildings.
Differentiated outdoor spaces like the central urban square, the public park, the garden decks, and the community terraces on the different levels of the individual buildings as well as the rooftop pools offer space for diverse leisure activities and encourage social interaction among its residents.
The proximity of the towers to each other creates a certain tension that contrasts with the experience of the spaciousness of the city – in the view of the green of the Viennese “Prater” and the 1st District of Vienna.
Creating a strong Identity, upgrading and revitalizing the surroundings, and providing new public spaces were the premises of the design.

Hydropower of the special kind Carbon-neutral heating and cooling of the towers is provided by the energy extracted from the water of the Danube canal using heat exchangers.
The electrical power is provided by wind energy. Annual savings are at 3,180 t CO2 – equivalent to 10,000 inhabitants.
The system offers substantial energy cost savings for its users.
Three residential towers have been built along with an urban square, a kindergarten, and landscaped outdoor areas.
In addition, a 2,900m² public park was created above the noise protection gallery of the highway – apart from providing areas for sport and recreation, it also forms a connecting axis between the Danube Canal and the Town office district.
In accordance with the motto of the Triiiple project “Living – Working – Leisure,” the outdoor space design centers around the “flow of life.”
The nearby River Danube is a key theme reflected in the design, which is linked to the life cycles of both people and nature.

A large water feature on the ground floor represents the largest square in the matrix and serves as a mirror for the residential towers and the sky.
The cubic forms of the building are thereby captured and included in the matrix.
The row of trees on the ground floor is made up of trees from a former art installation in Klagenfurt (For Forest).
Green facades near the staircase symbolically draw this avenue up to the 2nd floor.
On this level, raised planting areas have been installed for further tree plantings that follow the grid-like matrix of the ground floor.

The main path leads from the town through the park including a cycle path. A staircase and a lift connection provide direct access to the Danube canal.
The polygonal paths of the park lead to recreational areas that can be used in different ways, e.g. a Grill ‘n Chill party lounge.
In the park, 1,000m² has been dedicated to sports and games, including, for example, a sports area with combined streetball/football, a bocce court, and much more.
In addition, a playground space for small children has been provided including numerous natural elements (tree trunks, mounds of earth, stone blocks) for balancing, gymnastics, and playing, as well as ample tree cover to provide shade.
