Lorenzweiler, Principality of Luxembourg
Designed by gap_architectes for the Commune de Lorenzweiler, next to the old clubhouse of the tennis club, a new barrier-free building with changing rooms and sanitary facilities was built with an eco-material called raw miscanthus.

The outstanding feature of the building is the use of a type of insulation made from the renewable raw material miscanthus, also known as Chinese reed, which was used in this way for the first time in Luxembourg.
Properly processed, this grass creates a highly insulating, pollutant-free, ecological building material that is insensitive to environmental influences such as wet or mold.
The architecture of the building with the saddle roof with offset ridge represents a contemporary interpretation of the rural construction and underlines the ecological claim of the building through the use of natural materials, which is also expressed by its wooden facade.
The pleasantly simple, understated design language of the building is further enhanced by the cladding made from wooden slats, which go over the façade of the veranda and into the roof.

The fact that the longhouse is insulated with a new and especially sustainable type of grass makes this design even more interesting.
The LOT project is thus an example of how modern architecture can help protect the environment.
