Water House is a 5,000 sq. m contemporary residence in northern Bangkok that reinterprets traditional Thai living through an integrated approach to water, climate, and ecology. Inspired by the concept of Ruen Moo, the home is organized into smaller interconnected volumes around shared open spaces, enhancing privacy, natural ventilation, and family interaction. Water forms the heart of the project, with a central koi pond serving as both a social focal point and part of a comprehensive ecological system.

An integrated network of ponds, wetlands, swales, and drainage channels captures, filters, stores, and recycles rainwater and greywater, creating a self-sustaining landscape resilient to flooding and drought. Passive design strategies—including north–south orientation, shaded terraces, breezeways, double-layered walls, and a ventilated roof—maximize thermal comfort while reducing energy demand.

Natural materials such as teak, slate, steel, and textured masonry reinforce durability and harmony with the tropical setting, while discreet solar systems support essential operations. By combining traditional wisdom with contemporary environmental design, Water House presents a resilient model for sustainable tropical living that seamlessly integrates architecture, landscape, and water management.
