According to its creators, Forskaren is not just a building; it is a crucial point of Stockholm’s ambition to establish a world-class hub for science and innovation.
Situated in the heart of the new Hagastaden neighborhood, the facility unites academia, industry, research, and public spaces under one roof, fostering collaboration and synergy among diverse stakeholders.
The building’s distinctive round shape and tiered design are both visually captivating and functionally important.
This design minimizes the building’s footprint while maximizing outdoor spaces, featuring expansive balconies and a roof terrace that tenants can access, encouraging outdoor activities.
Demonstrating its commitment to the highest standards in sustainable building practices, the building aims for LEED Platinum, WELL v.1 Gold, and Miljöbyggnad Gold certification.
The hub is partially powered by solar panels that cover half of its roof, greatly reducing its dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
The incorporation of natural materials such as wood and stone not only elevates the building’s aesthetic appeal but also aligns with the project’s environmental objectives.
These materials are locally sourced, which helps to minimize transportation emissions and support local industries.
The interior design features a central atrium with a sculptural staircase that enhances connectivity across floors.
