Designed by Adam Rogers for Chilton Furniture, the Nautilus Lounge Chair is a handcrafted lounge chair designed by following Scandinavian design principles such as simplicity, quality, and utility.

This project has been awarded a 2020 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Chilton Furniture, located in Freeport Maine, has recently committed to commissioning original designs in accordance with their evolving brand principles and partnering with local manufacturers to produce.

The lounge chair was designed to illustrate a commitment to simplicity, employing as few parts as possible to create a physically comfortable chair in a style that would be visually comfortable in a wide range of environments.

The piece is constructed from solid hardwoods and is available for purchase in all North American hardwood species.

The form is characterized by cylinder-shaped side assemblies that are connected by coped rails.
The rails support a seat and back frame that locate the upholstered seat and backrest cushions.
The seat frame is webbed to allow the seat cushion to travel, while the back frame houses an inset upholstered panel to match the fabric of the cushion set.
Each joint is mortise and tenon as the chair is handcrafted to last a lifetime.
