By integrating fundamental design elements and digital sculpting techniques, Le Phuong Lien’s OLAf is a piece of furniture that also serves as a sculpture with profiles derived from various circumferences achieving a welcoming and captivating organic contour.
OlAf is equipped with a rigid metal frame featuring protective finishes, a flexible seat that conforms to body movements, and a soft fabric texture, ensuring commodity, firmness, and delight.
For its design, Olaf has been awarded a 2024 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
With a wide range of finishes, colours, materials and patterns, OLAf’s components can be disassembled, reducing packaging materials and shipping costs while enhancing user engagement.
The interchangeable covers and seat can be customized as part of a collection, made from recycled materials, or paired with the metal frame alone, offering a distinctly personal touch.
The contrasting materials make the product unique and symbolize the natural presence of contradictions within human nature.
This is reflected in the thought process and analysis involved in decision-making. Individual choices and perspectives, even when different from the majority, should be normalized, much like aesthetic preferences.
OLAf encourages uniqueness, enabling owners to express their individuality or share a story through their selection of fabric and frame combinations.
