Embodying the Japanese aesthetic that finds beauty in imperfection, Eugeni Quitllet designs an architectural ensemble features outdoor furniture crafted from teak and aluminum as part of a broader offering from Perennials and Sutherland, which also includes 100% solution-dyed acrylic fabrics and rugs.
The Wabi Sabi Collection has just been awarded a 2024 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The Wabi Sabi Lounge Chair highlights the intersection of chair components in a beautiful balanced structure.
Similarly, the accompanying ottoman may act as an extension of the chair.
The Wabi Sabi Four Seat Sofa and Three Seat Sofa are bold pieces crafted with humble design in mind.
The sofas, along with the complementary Wabi Sabi Coffee Table, are available in teak and powder coated aluminum.
The pièce de résistance – the Wabi Sabi Great Lounge Chair – is a showstopper featuring an armed slender frame (available in teak or aluminum) intersected by a capacious teak seat.
“For me, this collection is the vision of the void in between the matter,” explains Eugeni Quitllet, Sutherland Creative Director.
“Wabi Sabi challenges matter in a perfect balance.”
