Istanbul, Turkey
Inspired by a steamboat, one of the most iconic figures in Istanbul, the Istanbul Steamboat Porcelain Series designed by the Karaca Inhouse Design Team contains special pieces for serving breakfast, which has an important place in Turkish cuisine and is created with the partnership of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Karaca brand.

The Istanbul Steamboat Porcelain Series has recently been awarded a 2022 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The series has been designed as a souvenir for the promotion of Istanbul.
The pieces alone contain various pieces of the breakfast serving set.
When all the pieces are placed on top of each other and side by side,
Thanks to its easy stackable structure, it saves space.
When stacked, the plates form a steamboat shape, thus transforming into a decorative and humorous object.

It has been aimed to introduce the iconic cultural heritages of Istanbul city and to design a product concept with functional design features.
When all the pieces are placed on top of each other and side by side, the iconic figure of Istanbul, the steamboat, is formed, while the pieces alone provide harmony and consistency.
A decorative figure is formed by the product during storage.
When the pieces of the porcelain series stand side by side, they form a whole. The plates can be added to each other, thanks to their special forms.
When placed on top of each other, they are stacked easily, hence creating a decorative figure.
This is the first porcelain series to form a steamboat when the pieces come together.
New pieces have been developed particularly for serving breakfast.
