Showing off Zaha Hadid’s design language and Karimoku’s manufacturing skills, the Seyun Collection is a furniture collection that was unveiled last week, during Milan Design Week.
The collection consists of chairs, armchairs, and tables designed by Zaha Hadid Design and manufactured by Karimoku Furniture embodying Karimoku’s “high tech touch” ethos and Zaha Hadid Design‘s “strive for pioneering design.”
“This collaboration combines ZHD’s unmistakable design language and inventive approach to materiality with Karimoku’s uncompromising quality standards, achieved through the implementation of the most advanced technologies and manufacturing processes,” states Woody Yao, director at Zaha Hadid Design.
The hardness of the wood paired with the lightness of the flowy design creates a juxtaposition long before asymmetrical surfaces are joined together and brings together machine-made and hand-finished techniques.
The Seyun Table comes in two sizes that can be combined as a modular design to create larger units.
The Seyun Chair and Armchair are available with both natural and metallic color finishes while the metallic colors have been carefully calibrated in order to preserve the wooden patterns.
The Seyun Collection, as Zaha Hadid Design has stated, will be expanded in the future with additional pieces that can also stand the test of time.
