The table *worker emerged from the daily work in an architectural practice. It combines different modes of working – sitting, standing, discussing and model making – on a continuous work surface.
The construction consists of only three elements: a folded wooden plate and two steel Y-supports. The supports reduce the span of the tabletop, while large circular steel plates transfer the forces to the ground.
The folded geometry creates a sculptural form with different heights. As a result, the table functions not only as a workplace but also structures the surrounding space and encourages communication and collaboration.
The materials follow a clear logic: wood forms the generous folded work surface, while steel acts as a precise and minimal supporting structure.
The table consists of a 4200 × 1000 × 50 mm tabletop made from laminated maple wood, carefully sanded and oiled for a durable finish. It is supported by a welded steel structure featuring Y-shaped supports constructed from Ø 50 mm round steel tubing. The support assembly is anchored by a Ø 400 mm, 15 mm thick steel head plate and a Ø 600 mm, 15 mm thick steel base plate, providing stability and structural strength.
