Shinjuku-ku, Japan
The Fuwari Chandelier, designed by Yuko Nagayama for YAMAGIWA is a lighting fixture that creates a serene atmosphere with its gentle light and as the meaning of the Japanese word name “Fu-n-wari” meaning floating softly, describes the lighting perfectly.

The FUWARI Chandelier has been awarded a 2023 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The unique design of curved shades is deformed by incremental forming, a technique of sheet metal forming, applying small increments of deformations using a round-tipped tool into a thin metal sheet which makes each piece special.

This special technique creates a unique texture inside of the shades which allows to diffuse the light effectively.
While the appearance itself stays simple, it shows you various faces in accordance with a way of hanging or with an angle you see.
It can be used for multiple configurations mixing the sizes, lengths, and angles in order to fit in the various spaces.
