Mickey Bertram Jeppesen Jensen, a Danish designer and cabinetmaker, is the founder of MadeBySatelite – Rooted in Legacy. His work presents a fusion of traditional Nordic craftsmanship with sculptural design and emotional storytelling. Among his most personal creations are The Deer Chair and The Dobermann Chair.
The Deer Chair serves as a tribute to Jensen’s grandmother. As a child, she often took him to the woods, cultivating his affection for the calm, silence, and rhythm of nature. Following her passing, Jensen sought to honor her memory through a piece that encapsulated her grace and strength. The deer’s antlers are emblematic — elegant yet powerful; each line of the chair embodies her memory and the serenity he experienced in her presence. The design symbolizes purity, balance, and spiritual calm, reflecting nature’s quiet strength transformed into form.

Conversely, The Dobermann Chair narrates a story of loyalty, strength, and protection. The posture of the Dobermann evokes a sense of resilience and alertness, qualities essential to Jensen during his own life challenges. This chair epitomizes inner control and determination — power directed by discipline and faith. Its sculptural form and sharp silhouette convey confidence, focus, and endurance, values deeply identified with by Jensen both as a craftsman and an individual.
Both designs are meticulously handcrafted from solid oak and shaped entirely by Jensen himself. While the initial design process begins digitally, the authentic emotional essence emerges when working directly with the wood, animating the design and infusing soul into the material.
Jensen’s grandfather, a Danish boatbuilder, continues to inspire his approach to craftsmanship, emphasizing patience, precision, and pride in every detail. MadeBySatelite serves as a conduit, bridging heritage with contemporary sculptural expression.
