Sibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan
Eitaro Satake and STAR.inc have designed a new office for the apparel brand Mighty Company Limited in Tokyo that resembles a “secret base” where people can gather and be most productive.

The new office called “MGY BASE” was awarded a 2020 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Mighty Co. desired that MGY BASE be situated in a quiet residential area of Jingumae, Shibuya, in Tokyo.
Satake’s design resulted in an eye-catching building with an arrow shape facade.

The main floor is 6m high, and its huge glass facade gives the impression of a semi-outdoor space.
Wire mesh used in the loft, industrial taste lighting, iron and scaffold used fixtures, and other details represents the “secret base” the client requested.
Today, COVID-19 has questioned and redefined the entire meaning of “office.”

This was the design opportunity to reconsider the reason for people to gather and work in one place.
According to the architects, this comfortable, fun, unique, and playful office design is one of the design answers.
A new place that makes you want to assemble and work.

Wire mesh used in the loft, industrial taste lighting, iron and scaffold used fixtures, and other details represent the “secret base” the client requested.

This is what will be required of the office in the future.
“The main floor is usually used for business negotiations and meetings, but it plays a big part in various other activities such as seasonal events and parties, and it’s been well received,” states Mighty Co. Ltd.
“It’s the kind of office we were looking for; the kind of secret base where people want to get together.’’
