With design elements that collectively aim to improve the functionality and hygiene of household waste management, the Wave Bin, designed by NBC ARHITECT and manufactured by Electroarges is a thoughtfully designed residential trash bin that incorporates a hole with a sealing plug, facilitating easy drainage after washing to enhance sanitation,
It is quite difficult to wash because of the large volume of water that can accumulate inside, making its removal very difficult, which is why optimal cleaning is avoided.
Liquids from household waste can also accumulate, which can ferment and generate toxic bacteria.
In order to eliminate this inconvenience of sanitization, the team has provided a hole with a sealing plug that can be opened so that the liquids accumulated occasionally or after washing can be evacuated very easily.
For its design excellence, the project has been awarded a 2024 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The designer has chosen a similar corrugated sheet appearance to ensure greater impact resistance and to give a look inspired by vintage tin containers.
The color that indicates the type of waste I chose to be printed only on the lid, on the label on which the postal number can be indicated and on the drain plug.
