Drawing inspiration from the distinctive beauty of the manta ray, this fully custom-made 40mm dive watch by Edward Christopher Watches is designed for both everyday use and aquatic adventure.
Named Manta Dive Watch, the project has been awarded a 2024 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The watch features a striking 3D guilloché-style dial, available in five vibrant colors: Sky Blue, Royal Blue, Forest Green, Rose Red, and Midnight Black.
This kaleidoscope-patterned dial is complemented by applied hour markers made from Super-LumiNova BGW9 lume blocks, ensuring readability in low-light conditions.
Crafted from marine-grade 316L stainless steel, the 4-piece case measures 40mm in diameter and 11.3mm in thickness, with a lug-to-lug length of 47.6mm.
It boasts a water resistance of up to 200 meters (660 feet), suitable for recreational diving.
The watch incorporates an internal rotating bidirectional bezel made of aluminum, operated via the color-coded 2 o’clock crown.
Time adjustments are managed through the 4 o’clock crown, both equipped with triple O-ring waterproof gaskets to enhance water resistance.
A flat scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with triple-coated anti-glare treatment on both sides protects the dial, ensuring clarity and durability.
Each Manta watch comes with a color-coordinated, custom-made, quick-release FKM vulcanized rubber strap, designed to fit wrist sizes ranging from 13cm to 20cm.
At the heart of the Manta is the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, featuring 26 jewels, a 38-hour power reserve, and a hacking seconds function for precise time-setting.
