Nivillac, France
Designed by the European 40 Under 40 laureate Sebastien Magrez of Atelier MΙΜΑ, the JJ&SM house, lying in a landscape by the Vilaine river valley, invites everyone to take a breath away from city life.
Such a magnificent panorama inspired the design.
Sebastien Magrez was recently awarded a 2020 European 40 Under 40 Award from The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum.
The wooden house effortlessly blending with the surrounding landscape, seems to be directly connected, but in a discreet way, with nature.
The building lies at the top of the slope, gaining the wonderful view of an inhabited belvedere.
From the inside, the house offers a number of noble materials and selected frames, emphasizing the connection with the landscape.
A wide but simultaneously long narrow living room stretches towards the west gable.
Large openings, breaking the walls, offer a gorgeous point of view on the river running around the estate.
Another wide window, on the north side of the house, offers a panoramic view and lies just beneath the wooden- concrete bench that can anyone sit on and which contains a storage room as well as a wood stove.
