Singapore, Republic of Singapore

Parc Komo is a mid-rise mixed-use residential and commercial development in Singapore that has a rather challenging site context.
It fronts a large water plant to the north, a petrol station to the south, Changi Prison Complex to the east, and to the west low-rise/low-density houses.
The ten blocks were thus arranged to respond sensitively to its surroundings – the development took on an inward-looking planning, with the blocks orientated thoughtfully that contributes positively to the streetscape.

As importantly, we were able to extract and add value to the development despite its tricky site context, through employing certain architectural strategies.
Parc Komo by Park + Associates (Pte) Ltd., received an 2025 International Architecture Honourable Mention from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
The siting of the blocks, articulation of the façade, and interplay of protrusion and regression in balconies allowed a softening of the perceived mass of the development into a scale friendlier to the human experience.

To break away from a repetitive façade that gives back nothing to the street, purchasers were given options of balcony enclosures which created a façade variation that contributes to – on a macro scale an interesting street experience; on a micro scale a unique sense of identity to home occupiers.
Rather than a hard boundary wall dividing the two realms of public (commercial) and private (residential), in Parc Komo it comes in the form of a bio-pond and an intricately-designed entrance portal – a node within the development that emphasises the central role of landscaping within.
The ‘leftover’ spaces created by the block orientation offer opportunities for curated pockets of landscaped spaces for residents.

On ground and elevated, intimate and larger communal facilities are complemented by blue and green spaces, fostering a serene environment for residents.
Parc Komo strives to be a sanctuary that combines functionality and aesthetic beauty – a calm place to come home to for a refresh of mind, body, and spirit.
