Tokyo, Japan
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the iconic Castor series, a collection of tables, chairs, and sofas BIG-GAME designed for Karimoku New Standard, BIG-GAME: BOX is a solo exhibition of the Swiss design studio curated by David Glaettli currently on show at Karimoku Commons Tokyo.

Karimoku Furniture Inc. presents the exhibition BIG-GAME: BOX in the gallery space of the company’s hybrid exhibition space and showroom Karimoku Commons Tokyo from 18 February to 25 March, 2023.
The installation BIG-GAME: BOX features three large boxes, each approximately 120 cm high, bringing the unique designs of the studio from Switzerland to Japan.
Inside each box, various micro-scenes are on display, featuring objects and designs, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves into the world of BIG-GAME.

Each box is surrounded by furniture pieces the studio has designed for Karimoku New Standard, all in grain powder white and arranged in an irregular pattern, to give visitors a new appreciation of their simple yet functional designs and their comfort of use.
The designers give insights into their design process, their relationship with Karimoku Furniture, and the BIG-GAME: BOX exhibition.
For Karimoku New Standard, BIG-GAME designed the popular Castor series, starting with the Castor Stool and now comprising sofas, chairs and tables.

The Castor series is suited for working, hospitality, and home environments and features a distinct design language that balances refined simplicity, functionality, and timelessness.
With the minimal and elegant Castor Lobby Sofa System, Karimoku New Standard recently added the first entirely modular piece of furniture to the collection.
Swiss design studio BIG-GAME has been collaborating with Karimoku Furniture since the establishment of the brand Karimoku New Standard in 2009.

This exhibition is BIG-GAME’s first retrospective in Japan, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Castor series, which the studio has designed for Karimoku New Standard.
The exhibition is curated by Karimoku New Standard‘s Creative Director David Glaettli and brings together products from various brands BIG-GAME has been involved with, including 2016/, ALESSI, HAY, and Muuto, as well as works that have never been shown in Japan.
For the period of the exhibition BIG-GAME: BOX a special limited edition of the Castor Stool Plus, personally signed by BIG-GAME as well as a newly designed wooden stacking tray, will be on sale in the showroom.
BIG-GAME: BOX runs until March 24, 2023 at Karimoku Commons Tokyo, the Japanese furniture manufacturer’s hybrid exhibition and showroom space in Tokyo, Japan.
