Seville, Spain
Located in one of the areas of expansion in the historic urban center of the city of Seville, Asunción by Konstantino Tousidonis Rial and Fernando Mena Álvarez of Tousidonis Anisi Architects for Lasgaci SL is a residential intervention that consists of a rehabilitation and extension of an existing building.
The project has been awarded a 2021 40 Under 40 Architecture Award by The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
The expansion of the historic urban center of Seville began in the first third of the previous century and was consolidated, becoming one of the residential neighborhoods par excellence.
Currently, a return of young families is taking place in this area.
The entire property belongs to the same owner and is aimed at the rental market.
The project consists of the complete rehabilitation of one of the apartments and in the creation of two new ones by a one-story upward extension.
The extension is materialized with the typology of penthouses with generous terraces to the street.
This is done without exhausting the development potential allowed by the planning and without altering the original façade of the building.
Following the same aesthetic line in the design, priority has been given to achieving open plan and neutral spaces, capable of accommodating the wishes of future tenants.
Interiors are modern and minimal in character and have open glass fronts allowing views and light into the living spaces.
