Poltrona Frau and Fornasetti have partnered to give a fresh interpretation to the iconic Vanity Fair XC armchair.
This expanded version of the original 1930 armchair, a symbol of Italian design, Vanity Fair XC Imagine Edition comes with a decoration based on the surreal drawings by Fornasetti.
The drawing selected is a dreamlike topic typical of Fornasetti prints, retrieved from the extensive historical archive of the atelier and it features the sun and the moon rising from a whirl of clouds.
“I replicated the clouds from an old print in my bedroom and used them as wallpaper and decoration on various objects.” says Barnaba Fornasetti, art director of the brand, “The sun, with its face and stylized rays, is one of the themes my father interpreted obsessively, to the point that it became a Fornasetti icon.”
The Vanity Fair XC Imagine Reality Edition applies new Poltrona Frau’s technologies like Pelle Frau Impact Less leather, which is a sustainable tanning process that removes chromium and reduces the use of water and chemical substances.
Additionally, the pattern is printed digitally using a sophisticated method similar to silk screen-printing which confers a three-dimensional relief effect for a light and pleasant feeling to touch.
This unique edition is limited to 50 individually numbered pieces.
A select number will be available for pre-order exclusively on the Poltrona Frau e-shop in select European countries. From April 10th, while supplies last, they will be available worldwide after its launch at the 2024 Design Week in Milan.
