Los Angeles, California, USA
Miami-based developer Crescent Heights is moving forward to complete its 70-story South Olive Street residential tower in Downtown Los Angeles.
The project, which replaces a one-story commercial building at 1045 S. Olive Street, consists of an 810-foot-tall building featuring 794 rental apartments above 12,504 square feet of ground-floor commercial space.
Upon completing, the apartment tower will stand out in size and design amid the rapidly growing South Park district east of Staples Center.
Designed by New York-based architecture firm ODA, the project incorporates elements of Mid-Century Modern homes common to Los Angeles, incorporating floor-to-ceiling windows and cantilevered balconies.
Additionally, landscaped open space is planned throughout the tower, including podium and roof decks. Eye-catching cut-outs two-thirds the up of the building are destined for a swimming pool, lounge, and gym.
The 810-foot building with 794 units would be the third-tallest in Los Angeles behind the recently opened Wilshire Grand hotel and office tower and the U.S. Bank Tower office building completed in 1989.
Crescent Heights has “created a vertical village that pays homage to both the historic architectural aesthetic of this city and the new sense of urbanism that has been embraced by downtown,” said l Bruce Menin principal of Crescent Heights.
Completion is scheduled to occur by 2023.
