Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Designed by NOVO Architects, Mesong Towers is located in the special planning CBD in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The project was recently awarded with a 2020 International Architecture Award from The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum.
It lies at the junction of Dragon Bridge and Sopheak Mongkol Road on Diamond Island (an island built on reclaimed land at the delta of the Mekong river, which is also called the Mother River of Southeast Asia’s counties).
It is a landmark building at the gateway of Diamond Island.
The project includes two residential towers of 250 m and 175 m, a 5-story commercial podium with podium roof garden, roof terrace clubhouse with 270-degree infinite sky pool, and sky lounge/oasis, which will be semi-open to the public, providing luxury, and a vibrant and prestige lifestyle for the city.
Tower 1 mainly provides 1 bed, 2 bed apartments, and lofts for single people, young couples, and co-worker people in business.
Tower 2 mainly provides 3 bed, 4 bed, and duplex apartments for local middle-class and high-end class representatively.
The building is designed with multiple public spaces, provides comprehensive functions and services, and creates opportunities for contact, communication, and interaction.
The 5-storey commercial podium includes retail shops, F&B, roof garden, and community nursery.
The clubhouse on the 52nd Floor includes F&B, an entertainment room, gym, and an infinite swimming pool.
The sky lounge at 250 m is fitted with a business lounge, cigar room, mini theatre, private gym, and rooftop bar with panoramic views of the vibrant Phnom Penh city. The team takes sustainable design as one of the key elements in this kind of super-high rise building.
Due to long sunshine duration and heavy rainfall, balconies and vertical louvers are considered in the facade design as a shading device.
The roof is equipped with photovoltaic panels and rainwater collecting system.
The outdoor green wall and green roof help to improve the environment quality and create a comfortable atmosphere close to nature.
The facade design combines the characteristics of South-east Asia with the concept of bamboo to create an ecological and sustainable building.
By adding natural elements to the urban space, which is filled with reinforced concrete, and by integrating into the urban context, people can escape from the intense and fast lifestyle and relax in an oasis set within a comfortable atmosphere at the same time.
