The Nissan GT-R 50 by Italdesign is the result of the collaboration with the Japanese car manufacturer that began in 2018 with the creation of the prototype of the same name.
Nissan collaborated with Italdesign to create the model, based on the latest Nissan GT-R NISMO, in commemoration of the 50th anniversaries of the GT-R in 2019 and Italdesign in 2018.
The design started with Nissan’s latest GR-R NISMO as designers reinterpreted it with European-style sensibility, combining Japanese performance and Italian craftsmanship.
The success was achieved in the months following the presentation of the project drove Nissan and Italdesign to decide to launch production of the road version in a limited series of 50 units.
While Itadesign developed, engineered, and constructed the car, the distinctive, crisp exterior, and interior designs originated from Nissan’s design centers in London and San Diego.
Key design features include a pronounced power bulge on the hood, stretched LED headlights, lowered roofline, and prominent “samurai blade” cooling outlets behind the front wheels. A large, adjustable rear wing, mounted with two uplights, completes the overall look. The exterior is finished in a “Liquid Kinetic Gray” with distinctive, “Energetic Sigma Gold” accents.
Powering each GT-R50 by Italdesign is a NISMO-tuned 720 PS hand-built 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6. The car’s suspension was revised via Bilstein and the upgraded Brembo braking system was added to help handle the extra power.
Customers will be able to choose a livery inspired by the GT-Rs that made the history of the brand.
That will make the already limited car — of which only 50 will be produced — even more attractive to collectors.
The first vehicles will be delivered to customers in early 2021.
