Dresden, Germany
“With the realization of this completely fantastic space vehicle, we want to dare a thought experiment that also raises questions about our future: what would life beyond planetary boundaries look like?’ states German ID office Hookie, the designers who have envisioned the new Tardigrade Motorcycle.
“What demands does outer space make on a bike that can travel in the darkness of space and largely from the shackles of gravity over icy lunar dust? And how far away are we from such scenarios?”
Andrey Fabishevsky visualized a lunar concept motorcycle back in 2020—an exploration vision that Nico Mueller, CEO of Hookie, and his crew realized from the technical side.

And now today, the German brand brings this electric lunar motorcycle concept to life.
The Tardigrade Motorcycle is built to explore the moon’s surface and beyond.
As the world’s first concept moon motorcycle, tardigrade takes its name from the homonymous microscopic animals that are able to survive extreme conditions.

The designers’ purpose was to build this electric motorcycle to theoretically explore the moon’s surface.
The big two-wheeler was inspired by previous lunar rovers combined with a vision for the future. Its thick black trellis frame, thick single swingarms, lattice wheels, and fat airless tires look the lunar part.

The rider (height: 0,90 m / 2,95 ft and length: 2,60 m / 8,53 ft) can carry various types of equipment with a speed limit of 15km/h, while it has a battery range of almost 110km.
Its ultra-lightweight materials and changeable airless tire pieces provide the space crew to challenge any obstacle.
A combination of ultra-lightweight materials and changeable airless tire pieces allows the Space-Crew to tackle any obstacle on its mission.

It was a vision with hurdles, but Hookie proved it.
The vehicle is currently on exhibition at the Automotive Petersen Museum in Los Angeles as a part of the “ADV:overland” exhibition.
