The new Smeg 1950s Retro FAB28 Style 270L Right Hinge Refrigerator features Mickey Mouse. Following on from previous collaborations with Dolce & Gabbana, Mini and Veuve Cliquot, Smeg has partnered with Disney for its latest collaboration.
To celebrate the special nature of the partnership, there will only be a total of 90 fridges made for the limited-edition collection.
Not just that, but there will only be a total of 90 fridges made for the limited edition collection – one for each year since Mickey’s debut back in 1928, making the fancy Smeg X Disney fridge a true collector’s item.
To show its value, each fridge is also decorated with a silver plaque signifying its unique number.
Aesthetically speaking, the FAB28 is Smeg’s most widely recognized design. Immediately identifiable due to its soft curves and 50s-inspired design, it paved the way to a refrigerator revolution in the late 1990s. Since then, it has become a global phenomenon.
There’s no word on whether this will be the only product in Smeg’s Disney partnership, or whether there’s more – and hopefully some slightly more affordable ones – to come.
And while some of us may have preferred to see one of our favorite Disney princesses on the front, one of Mickey’s greatest charms is his timelessness, spanning nine decades – and plenty of Disney loving generations since he first appeared back in the 1930s.
The exciting new fridge coincides with the anniversary of the luxury brand with being its 70th anniversary.
