Adding to his artistic creation lighting design, Miguel Arruda collaborates with iLAP Lighting to design Lisbon Light, a collection of lighting fixtures made of glazed terracotta and cork inspired by a 20th-century building in Lisbon.

The design has been awarded a 2021 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The concept of this tile, used on the surface of the lamp’s metallic structure, in the vertical and horizontal position as well as its wall-mounted form, derives from the tri-dimensional interpretation of a pictorial Design of a XX Century tile, found on the facade of an old building in Lisbon at Rua da Junqueira.

The bi-dimensionality of this original tile of the 20th Century consists in a drawing of two circles, with two shades of blue in a white square backdrop, and is now the focus of a tri-dimensional interpretation that conveys a sculptural aspect to the new tile which -in conjunction with the light source- brings new shape values to the Lamp.
This tri-dimensional formal interpretation is built-in Tile and Cork materials, so as to take advantage of the combination of both the light source and the acoustic properties of the cork surfaces.

This lamp is presented in both vertical and horizontal extruded aluminum bodies, coated on both sides with a variety of tile or cork modules.

In its vertical position, the aluminum profile is fixed to a 31cm diameter stainless steel circular base, with under sliders to allow perfect movement.
The light source consists of a Led Stripe Modular Technology, in an opaline polycarbonate diffuser, fixed to the main body with powerful magnets.
This lamp has several control solutions, for several positions, vertical, horizontal, and wall modules, with the possibility to use a technology that controls the light flux variation by digital approach.
