Shore Car Club, an exclusive members-only automotive club in Ocean, New Jersey, has reached completion under the design of Marc Thorpe Design + Architecture. The nearly 40,000 square foot space features secure storage for up to 110 cars, seven uniquely designed members’ areas, expertly curated private events and experiences for members, and much more.
In 2021, the founders of Shore Car Club hired Marc Thorpe, Architect & Designer, with imagining the identity of what is now New Jersey’s first-ever private members automotive club. While celebrating the sun-kissed beachfront atmosphere of Ocean, New Jersey and its surrounding areas, including the famed Asbury Park—the creation of the Shore Car Club brand centered around fun and sophistication.
Not only does this aesthetic sensibility run through Shore Car Club’s brand DNA, which includes its logo, messaging, and marketing communications—but also comes alive in the physical spaces—its interiors, lighting and more—thanks to Thorpe’s holistic design approach.
In 2022, Marc Thorpe Design + Architecture, in collaboration with long time partners JBA Collective and Loop Lighting, created the vision for the overall design and development of the Shore Car Club building and interior. What resulted is a nearly 40,000 square foot space whose highlights include a street-level open air lobby, a 6,000 square foot member’s lounge with a central bar and cafe, a full kitchen, co-working spaces, a conference room, outdoor terraces, a roof garden, a library, private dining, a simulator room with two driving simulators and a golf simulator, and much more.
Given the automotive focus of Shore Car Club, special attention was paid to the sprawling storage facility that seamlessly integrates with the club areas through modern glass elements. With space for nearly 110 cars, the storage area titled The Gallery, features climate control, 24/7 security monitoring, trickle chargers, secure access, two indoor wash bays, a valet service, detailing services, and more. 14 private garages are also available to members who prefer to have their own space.
