The project examines a new Parisian gastronomic venue within the Museum Bourdelle that restores the domestic character of Rhodia Bourdelle and Michel Dufet’s former apartment.

This bright yellow-and-white jewel, meticulously restored to its original state by the Paris Museums, serves as the canvas for a scenographic, furniture, and decorative project.

Le Rhodia, restaurant of the Bourdelle museum by Anaïs Estrade, won an “Europe 40 Under 40” Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies.

Taking a holistic approach, SAME studio designed unique furniture pieces for the space. Semicircular travertine tables are placed at the four cardinal points of the restaurant, while two large family-style tables in ceramic and wood command the center.

The legs of these tables, crafted using traditional techniques by ceramicist Cyril Dennery, transform the earthen material into organic supports for oak tabletops.

Stone, clay, and wood were chosen as a tribute to Antoine Bourdelle’s work.

The space itself blends modernist touches, with chairs designed by Olavi Hänninen and Pierre Gautier-Delaye, and contemporary design, thanks to Céline Wright’s lighting fixtures, crafted in the Paris region.

This awareness of place, combined with a present-day perspective, creates a bridge between the glorious history and the radiant future of the new restaurant, Le Rhodia.

In line with its vision for interior design, SAME studio extended its work to create the visual identity of Le Rhodia, collaborating with graphic designer Alizée Freudenthal.
