Designed by Jean-Baptiste Fastrez, the brave and radical, the FZ1 Stool for EO ApS represents a new approach to stool design, combining classic elements with a modern graphic twist, giving it its unmistakable character.
The stackable matte black stool consists of a powder-coated steel frame and a seat in powder-coated fine European beech wood.
The design considers not the audience’s perception both as a singular item and as a stacked item as pictured above.
The design pushes the audience to reinterpret what a modern stool could look like; whereas traditional stools provide minimal support on all sides, the FZ1 has handles on both sides, defining the surrounding “personal space” for an individual occupying the stool, while also providing a space for personal belongings.
Viewed through a creative art perspective, the sleek handles add volume to the vertical design of the stool, and this is more evident when the stools are stacked one atop of another.
The FZ1 is an apt addition to the NEXT collection, where each contributing piece is at once simple at first glance, but is the result of many thoughtful considerations, from material selection to the utilization of shape and space.
