“This partnership has always been about our two companies’ shared passion, values and knowledge. IKEA and Sonos recognize the importance of great sound and its potential to positively affect life at home,” states Tad Toulis, Vice President of Design at Sonos.
IKEA and Sonos have announced the new SYMFONSIK picture frame WiFi speaker which combines high-performance sound into a beautiful piece of art.
Following the multifunction design of the Symfonisk lamp speaker and the SYMFONSIK bookshelf speaker, both introduced to the IKEA range in 2019, the new SYMFONSIK picture frame WiFi speaker serves as a piece of art that seamlessly blends into the home.
The speaker will be available in black or white along with interchangeable fronts that offer a variety of artwork options.
The frame measures roughly 406 x 559 x 60mm (WDH) and can be hung on your wall – in either landscape or portrait – or stood on the floor or shelf using rubber feet designed to reduce vibrations. Those feet are detachable and can be neatly stored away in the back of the frame when not in use.
The speaker is mains-powered and comes with a 3.5m cable in the box. The frame incorporates multiple exits to run the cable out of and the cable can be wrapped around the inside of the frame to hide as much of it as possible from view.
It won’t let you display your own artwork or photos but, instead, allows you to clip in one of 14 panels designed by artist Jennifer Idrizi.
“The space-saving picture frame speaker is an innovative and adaptable solution merging technology into a beautiful form of wall art”, says Mathias Karlsson, Director of Home Smart at IKEA Canada.
“With the arrival of the new picture frame speaker within the IKEA Home Smart product line, we’re enabling consumers to both inspire and enjoy a smarter everyday life at home.”
The SYMFONISK picture frame speaker connects over WiFi and can be used as the only sound source in a room or connected with other products from the SYMFONISK range or other Sonos products.
As with previous SYMFONSIK products this new speaker is also part of the Sonos system, which means listeners can connect to more than 100 streaming services as well as the full range of Sonos products.
“Each SYMFONISK speaker combines the Sonos sound experience with IKEA design in surprising new ways, creating products neither company would create alone,” says Sara Morris, Principal Product Manager at Sonos.
“Sonos’ acoustic design means the picture frame speaker sounds amazing for such a compact shape, and the Sonos app means it is effortless to set up and effortless to use.”
“This long-term collaboration continues to deliver exciting new ideas that will bring great listening experiences to homes across the globe – we look forward to delivering more unique products together in the future.”
