Hong Kong, China

Hong Kong Post Building is the new headquarters for the city’s postal department, embodying a visionary design of functionality, aesthetics and sustainability. The building comprises a public section including a post office and a postal gallery, and a staff section including working, operational and training spaces.
The architecture represents a new image for the Hong Kong Post in the 21st Century. It is a model of an open and inviting civic building, dedicated to enhance the well-being of its users while serving as a nexus connecting the institute with the community it serves.
With this project, we seize the opportunity to design an architecture that benefits the staff, the visitors and the neighbourhood.

Hongkong Post Building not only serves as an efficient and service-oriented government building, but also celebrates the values of well-being and sustainability in the everyday working environment, while treasuring an immersive of refreshing oasis within the heart of the vibrant city life in Kowloon Bay.

For the creation of this 9-storey inviting and approachable civic structure, our innovative design began on urban level, we envisioned transformative changes that goes beyond the building itself, by introducing the concept of a landscaped plaza in front of the building, serving as a serene foyer, a green pedestrian pathway amidst the surrounding industrial cityscape, providing a refreshing respite and elevating the wellness of visitors and staff. This addition facilitates smooth public movement across the site, between the bustling Kowloon East CBD and the progressive Kai Tak Development, enhancing connectivity among districts.
To break away from the repetitive rectangular city grid prevalent in this industrial zone, we incorporated a distinctive coloured feature wall on the 1st floor gallery, seamlessly extending the gallery to the street through the expansive glass wall. This alteration brings vibrancy and visual interest to the otherwise monotonous streetscape, injecting a new sense of vitality, and warmly invites the public to explore its diverse exhibits.
