hm-LI Studio, led by founder Haoming Li, unveils three innovative furniture collections: the Weaving Chair, the Le Sourire Chair, and the Curl Cabinet Series. Each reflects the studio’s design philosophy, merging art, architecture, and nature into timeless, minimalistic forms.
Weaving Chair Series
The Weaving Chair Series explores form and structure through flowing lines and spatial fluidity. Inspired by a spontaneous moment of folding a receipt, the chair transforms a flat surface into a dynamic 3D shape. It features precision bent wood construction and a mortise-and-tenon joinery system that encourages user interaction in assembly. Reflecting the Chinese aesthetic concept of “枨”, the design blends subtle Eastern influences with modern minimalism. This series includes dining chairs, benches, and stools in various sizes and materials, from natural wood to colorful lacquers and textiles.

Le Sourire Chair Series
The Le Sourire Chair emphasizes balance and precision, drawing from Haoming Li’s architectural background and her family’s heritage in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy. Its flowing lines evoke the graceful brushstrokes of calligraphy, transforming solid wood into an organic form that captures movement. Inspired by silk’s gentle folds, the chair’s curves symbolize strength and refinement. CNC carving technology joins the backrest and seat seamlessly, creating a visual “floating” effect that lightens the solid wood’s appearance. Ergonomic and elegant, the high-backed version offers support, while lower-back or backless options suit benches or side tables. The series features finishes like natural oils and traditional Chinese lacquer, combining durability with aesthetics.

Curl Cabinet Series
The Curl Cabinet Series plays with curve and function, featuring curved surfaces and woven grid patterns. Its multi-directional opening doors allow flexible storage options in different configurations. The elegant curves and minimalist grid offer order and sophistication. Combining wood and metal, the cabinet balances industrial lightness with solid construction. The modular design fits various spaces—from large sideboards to small bedside tables. Surface finishes vary from traditional wood veneers to bold Chinese lacquer, reflecting each environment’s unique aesthetic.
These collections highlight hm-LI Studio’s fusion of cultural heritage, architectural precision, and natural materials to create functional art that invites engagement and reflection.
