Omaha, Nebraska, USA
Inspired by Omaha’s industrial past, the Steelhouse Omaha was designed by Ennead Architects and Fisher Dachs Associates and has a dark, charcoal-colored metal façade has a unique sawtooth pattern reflecting the city’s steel manufacturing history.
Inside, the sawtooth motif continues, creating a cohesive visual experience.
Steelhouse Omaha’s design aims to promote accessibility and exploration in line with O-pa’s mission to create a place that inspires and engages.
Steelhouse Omaha is a component of O-Pa’s master plan concept and broader campus growth.
The project has been awarded a 2024 American Architecture Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The building complements the Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement, which is being built across the street, and offers a lively alternative to the Holland Performing Arts Center.
In order to serve as a gateway to the O-pa campus and link the city’s regenerated riverfront with expanding projects in downtown Omaha, the venue is positioned strategically along a major thoroughfare.
Steelhouse Omaha enriches the community by hosting a wide range of performances, from local artists to international acts, contributing to Omaha’s vibrant cultural scene.
Its design and functionality reflect a commitment to accessibility and engagement, aligning with O-pa’s mission to inspire and connect through the arts.
