Ariel, designed by Mario Ferrarini of Mario Ferrarini Studio for Davis Furniture, embodies a minimalist approach to design with a focus on its form and functionality.
A result of the first collaboration between Ferrarini and Davis Furniture, this multi-use chair’s design is forged from a sculptural steel frame and then refined with wood components on the seat and back.
Ariel was awarded a 2021 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
A distinguished, light-scale multi-use chair with refined proportions and a timeless aesthetic, Ariel introduces itself in a stately manner no matter the application.
The outline of the chair is exaggerated by the tapered wood detail of the back which gracefully expands to seamlessly join together with its metal base.
The tubular steel underscores the arched back as it cascades down to the leg.
As it gently descends, the rounded steel reshapes to form a rectangular detail at the base which completes this intricate design.
Ariel’s silhouette effortlessly transitions into bar height seating.
The wood seat and back are available in oak or walnut veneer with an upholstered seat pad option, which furthers the design flexibility of this piece.
The steel base is available in powder-coated finishes and stacks for easy storage.
Ariel’s design is a convenient option for projects that desire a unique aesthetic yet require excellent functionality and durability.
This is why Ariel is perfectly suitable for high-traffic commercial use within a variety of spaces such as cafés, meeting rooms, and even educational interiors.
After graduating from the Politecnico University of Milan with a degree in Industrial Design, Mario Ferrarini began practicing as a consultant for a number of renowned architecture, furniture, and product design studios.
In 2007, he established his own studio first in Como, Italy, and then in Lugano, Switzerland working alongside international companies on different projects ranging from industrial products, furniture, and interior designs.
Mario Ferrarini creates timeless products that transcend passing trends and provide long-lasting solutions.
His design studios focus on the use of innovative materials with design balance as a principal goal.
The products are a result of the technical, aesthetic, and functional solutions used in designing them.
